Applying to the Harvard Radiation Oncology Residency Program (HROP)

Thank you for your interest in the Harvard Radiation Oncology Residency Training Program. This year we will again be participating in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). You will need to contact your medical school Dean's Office to access the MyERAS web-based application. Your application should be accompanied by your curriculum vitae, medical school transcripts, four letters of reference, a personal statement (see below) and the Dean's Letter from your medical school. If you are currently in a residency program in any discipline or have an obligation to a residency program, please indicate this and explain why you have decided to change your position.

Please also include a personal statement with your application. Explain any interruptions in your education. Tell us why you have chosen radiation oncology as your specialty. The selection committee is most interested in what special qualities and experiences you have and what you hope to do with your radiation oncology training. The personal statement helps us to know you, and we read it with great care.

Your completed application will be thoroughly reviewed by the Program Director and the HROP Selection Committee. Interviews will be by invitation sent via e-mail. There are three interview sessions held in December and January. The interview consists of two full days and involves meetings with various faculty and residents at the Longwood Medical Area (LMA) on one day, and at MGH on the other day.

We will offer interviews to approximately 30 candidates per year. We accept seven or eight PGY-2 positions per year through the NRMP.

If you are currently a medical student and are interested in a visiting radiation oncology elective, please contact the Registrar's Office, Harvard Medical School, 25 Shattuck St., Boston, MA 02115 Tel. (617) 432-1515.

If you have any questions, please call Annie Rodriguez (617)-732-6230, or Dominique Jeudy (617) 724-1160, our residency coordinators.

Deadline for receipt of all application materials is November 1st.

Sincerely,

Jay R. Harris, M.D.
